- About the Federation
We are one of 19 Academies and Free Schools sponsored by the Harris Federation. All of these are in and around London and we work highly collaboratively together.
The Harris Federation is a not-for-profit charity with more than 20 years’ experience of education. Of 11 Harris Academies so far to have been inspected by Ofsted, nine have been rated as ‘Outstanding’ – a record that is unmatched by any other education body.
In addition to a family of Academies and Free School, there is also a Harris Federation Teaching School. This enables the Harris Federation not only to train and develop our existing teachers and leaders, but also to deliver outstanding training for other primary and secondary schools across London.
The Harris Federation was founded by Lord Harris of Peckham. He and his family take a personal role and interest in every Harris Academy and Free School, generously supporting us financially and with his time.

Lord Harris of Peckham
Lord Harris of Peckham is the founder, sponsor and Chairman of the Harris Federation.
He and his family take a personal role and interest in every Harris Academy and Free School, generously supporting us financially and with his time. They are regular visitors to Harris Academies and Free Schools, and know many of our students personally.
Educated at Streatham Grammar School, Lord Harris had to cut short his education at 15 after the death of his father in order to take over the running of the family business of three carpet shops. He went on to set up Carpetright, now a public company with over 600 branches in the UK and across the rest of Europe.
