Student Voice

At Harris Academy Chafford Hundred we have an active and engaged student voice

Head Student Team

The overall student leadership process will be overseen and run by the Head and Deputy Head Student Team in Year 13, who will work closely with the Year Group Leads. They will set the agenda for the meetings, communicate with staff the major concerns pupils have as brought up through the Year Group Leads and take a lead role in briefings.

Character Ambassadors

Character ambassadors are selected student leaders that always demonstrate and embody our character traits of Zest, Confidence, Grit, Responsibility and Kindness. Our character ambassadors are passionate about representing and supporting our school. They serve as student leaders and that help bridge the gap between students and staff.

They perform a range of duties for example, student mentoring, working with clubs, helping to run events, providing corridor support, presenting other students with merits, facilitating restorative conversations and much more!

You will notice them around the building due to the Yellow Lanyard that they wear with pride!

Student Council

Our student leadership team consists of a range of students from Year 7 to Year 11 and works alongside the Sixth Form Team.
Year 7 - 9 nominate, campaign and elect representatives through Citizenship lessons. Students are able to fully participate in an election scenario whilst they learn about this area of the subject, which provides valuable application of the content they are learning.

Year 10 and 11 use their tutor time to nominate, campaign and elect their peers to the Student Council.

The team meets formally at least once each half term to discuss a range of issues brought forward by both staff and the students themselves. The SLT are also contacted throughout the school year with opportunities to volunteer their time to support at key moments in the school year.

Our current Student Leadership team have been notable for their work including the Academy's successful application for the Rights Respecting Schools Bronze Award.

Student Voice

We engage student voice each half term through surveys and focus groups to gauge opinion on a range issues that help us to better tailor the student experience at HACH
