The aim of our team is to provide a holistic view of the young people from 5 - 19. We address their social, psychological and physical wellbeing by offering the following . . . .
- General health promotion
- Self esteem
- Confidence building
- Anger management
- Sexual health support
- Being able to say no to sex/ R u Ready info
- Go Girls
- Chlamydia testing
- Advise/support drug and alcohol abuse
- Advice re Domestic Violence
- Smoking cessation - we prescribe the nicotine replacement therapy for students and staff
- Blood pressure monitoring for students and staff
- Healthy eating
- Bullying advice - what to do if you're a victim or the bully i.e. why do you do it? How can you stop?
- Cyber bullying
- Safe use of Internet
- immunisations
- Screening of children as necessary i.e. height, weight, vision & hearing
- Child Protection
- Looked After Children link for health
- Children in Need link for health
- Drop In sessions for parents
- Speakeasy training -staff, parents, children with younger siblings
- Lesbian, Gay & Bisexual support
- Mental Health Counselling from qualified psychiatric nurse
We can access many agencies that are able to work with pupils in the school or out side of school hours as required. As part of the holistic support the Health Improvement Team works closely with Chafford’s three primary schools. - ChildLine - A free 24 hour counselling service for children and young people up to 18 in the UK that deals with any issue which causes distress or concern
- Kidscape - Advice and guidance for carers, parents and young people to aid the prevention of bullying
