BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business

Entry Requirements

An average Attainment 8 score of 4 as well as a Grade 5 in English Literature or Language. In addition to this a Grade C in Business Studies GCSE is preferred.

What is BTEC National Extended Diploma in Business?

This qualification is the equivalent to 3 A Levels.

The BTEC Nationals in Business have been developed in the business sector to:

  • provide education and training for employees in the business sector
  • provide opportunities for business employees to achieve a nationally recognised Level 3 vocationally-specific qualification
  • provide full-time learners with the opportunity to enter employment in the business sector or to progress to vocational qualifications such as the Edexcel BTEC Higher Nationals in Business
  • provide learners with the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life

Course Content

The four core units in the extended diploma give you an introduction to and understanding of the business environment, management of resources, marketing and communication – all fundamental to the success of business organisations. The course also includes opportunities for you to go on work experience placements.

How will you be assessed?

The assessment approach of the BTEC Nationals in Business allows you to receive feedback on your progress throughout the course as they provide evidence towards the assessment and grading criteria through continuous course work. There is also an external exam component for the BTEC that you are required to pass in order to achieve your final results.

Exam Board: Edexcel
