Enrichment

Academic Enrichment

In order to give all our students the opportunity to reach their potential we offer a range of subjects to extend the normal A level offer. Amongst the choices is the Extended Project as well as Open University courses which offer a genuine chance to achieve at Level 3 and beyond by offering independent research and level 4 (Foundation degree) opportunities.

Enrichment

in the Sixth Form there will be opportunities to contribute to the wider life of the school. As ambassadors you will be encouraged to take part in a choice of electives.

Sport

We offer a wide range of opportunities to take part in both competitive and social sports, while Badminton offers a more relaxing form of exercise. The gym will be open to Sixth Form before, during and after school.

Mentoring

Sixth form students will be encouraged to act as academic mentors to pupils lower down the school. This will be in the capacity of core subject mentoring at both Key Stages. This valuable experience can assist applications for both university and work and will be viewed positively by the school when writing references.

Performing Arts

Performing Arts play a very important role in the school. There will be many events and school musicals staged every year. If you want to help direct or be a part of a show you can do this in Electives. If you prefer to work behind the scenes or in sound and lighting, you can take this on as a responsibility or work within our Performing Arts faculty club.

Charity

Harris Academy Chafford Hundred is proud to represent the community and is committed to contributing to local, national and international charities. This will be through Year group campaigns or assisting staff via charity-themed days. Students are required to select and organise charity events if they are to take part in the World Challenge to Malaysia.

Social Events

The social life of the Sixth Form will be largely student-led and, in the main, students will be responsible for their own events. Popular events will include: University visits. Fashion Shows, Shakespeare Festival, Grandparents' Day and the School magazine. Students will be encouraged to come forward with new ideas to try.
