HF Teaching School
Harris Academy Chafford Hundred (HACH) as part of the Harris Federation Teaching School Network will be offering the Outstanding Teacher Programme (OTP) to interested schools in Essex and other areas. HACH achieved 92% A-C including Maths and English in 2011 with very value added, placing the academy in the top 1% in the country for pupil progress. Its recent Ofsted inspection (November 2011) saw the Academy achieve 30 out of 31 outstanding judgements, including a 1 for teaching and learning with 94% good and outstanding lessons. HACH has real strength in all areas especially English and Maths where teaching and learning, especially for assessment for learning, is very strong.
The OTP is delivered over a six week programme by outstanding senior teachers and trainers at HACH. Alongside training sessions are lesson observations of outstanding teachers to give the programme a very practical focus. Each week there is a focus influenced by the new Ofsted framework with the common thread being assessment for learning and outstanding practise. Academies or schools at secondary level send three teachers at a time. These teachers must be those their schools feel have the potential to become outstanding and who are consistently producing good standards in the classroom. For any candidate the OTP course will challenge their thinking and resilience with each receiving the necessary feedback and coaching to become an outstanding teacher.
At the end of the intensive course each teacher will have developed the practical strategies and pedagogical knowledge to transfer into the classroom with the needed sustainability to impact pupil progress and attainment for all pupils in line with the new accountability framework.
