Welcome to the Teaching School Hub
The Harris Academy Chafford Hundred Teaching School Hub is one of six Teaching School Hubs nationally. Our Hub, which is based at Harris Academy Chafford Hundred in Essex, is responsible for the following Local Authority Districts: Basildon, Brentwood, Castle Point, Maldon, Rochford, Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock.
Over the next two years, we will be responsible for three main areas:
- Continuing Professional Development
- Recruitment and Retention of teachers (including national roll out of the Early Careers Framework)
- School-to-School support
We believe that by delivering bespoke CPD training, leadership programmes and helping to recruit and retain high quality teaching staff, we will be able to support schools, giving them direct access to the expertise from school leaders with a track record of improving challenging schools. This initiative was launched by the Department of Education last year, to simplify and strengthen how the government drives up school standards, building on the successes of the Teaching Schools and National Leaders of Education programmes.
We also lead the high performing Southend Essex & Thurrock Science Learning Partnership and the London & Essex Computing Hub.
Harris Academy Chafford Hundred is also a part of the Harris Federation Teaching School Network, Harris Academy Chafford Hundred (HACH) offers a number of courses to teachers including NQTs, middle leaders and senior leaders.
HACH has consistently over the last five years achieved 5 A*-C including Maths and English results between 84% and 94%. This has placed the academy in the top 1% in the country for pupil progress. HACH has real strength in all areas especially English and Maths where teaching and learning, especially for assessment for learning, is very strong. Since 2013 we have run Visitor Day Conferences twice a year to share our journey to success and these have proved immensely popular with schools around the country.
In addition, we offer a variety of Twilight CPD training sessions each term for both Primary and Secondary schools and we are always open to suggestions for new courses and also bespoke consultations. Our current courses are listed on the left hand side.
