Homework
At Harris Academy Chafford Hundred we believe that independent study is key to success. It teaches students skills which will aid them in later study and also encourages students to be curious and take control of their learning, demonstrating grit and zest. Oning.
If you have any questions regarding homework in a specific subject area, please email your child’s class teacher. Your child’s timetables are displayed on MCAS; if you are having any difficulty accessing this service, please email: MCAS.Support@harrischaffordhundred.org.uk.
Students can complete homework and independent learning during our KS3 Evening Study sessions, which will take place each Thursday from 3.15pm- 4.30pm in F7. Evening Study is a professional working environment for students, supported by Heads of Year and allows for computer access if required.
Key stage 3 Homework booklets will be produced each half term and communicated home to parents. Subjects providing homework will change with each booklet that is published. Pupils will submit their homework via Microsoft Teams.
Key stage 4 Pupils in year 10 follow a fortnightly homework cycle, which will be in three rounds. The first round of homework will be given by English and Maths only, the second round EBACC subjects and the third round Non EBACC subjects. During year 11 pupils will be invited to several before and after school subject specific sessions to complement the curriculum, as a result it will be down to the teacher's discretion how and when homework is set.
Key stage 5 Pupils will be given independent homework to complete. This homework will complement the subject's curriculum plans. The task, regularity and how this is handed in will be at the teacher's discretion.
