Entry requirements
At the Harris Academy Chafford Hundred Sixth Form Consortium we offer two pathways of study: A-level or BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma. For each pathway there are two parts to our entry requirements.
- Part One: Attainment 8 Score.
- Part Two: Specific subject entry requirements. These are outlined in the document at the bottom of the page.
What is Attainment 8?
Attainment 8 is an average GCSE performance score that places particular importance on Maths, English and a selection of academic subjects. An average attainment 8 score of 4 means the student has, on average achieved 4s (equivalent to C grades); 5.5 means they have achieved an average of a B grade or a mixture of 5s and 6s.
A Level Pathway
Minimum Attainment 8 Score: 55
Students will study 3 Subjects at A Level (Core Maths, Further Maths are a fourth option).
A typical student following the A Level pathway may achieve the following grades at GCSE and therefore receive an Attainment 8 of 60.

Extended Diploma Pathway
Minimum Attainment 8 Score: 40
Students will study one subject as a full time qualification, they will receive 3 grades ranging from Pass to Distinction*.
A typical student following the Extended Diploma pathway may achieve the following grades at GCSE and therefore receive an Attainment 8 of 44.
