Chafford Hundred Teaching School Hub Bulletin

Dear Colleagues,

I’m sure this term has given you plenty to contend with but I hope amongst it all you and your staff have been able to get on with the core business of teaching and learning. For us, as I’m sure it has been for you too, having the pupils back in the building reminds us why it all matters.

When I wrote to you all at the start of term with an invitation to our Teaching School Hub conference I was greeted with such a warm welcome to the region. It is fantastic to hear about all the great work our schools are doing in Basildon, Brentwood, Castle Point, Maldon, Rochford, Southend and Thurrock.  I truly believe this collaborative spirit will serve us all well. We plan to host the recording of our conference on our new website that will be ready to go live next term.

In the meantime we have been working on our first Teaching School Hub bulletin in conjunction with the teaching school alliances, curriculum hubs and research schools in our area. I hope you find this first edition, informative, rich in research and ideas for professional development for your schools to engage with. The bulletin will be one of our most important tools for communicating with you each half-term as we support one another during these trying times. It is also an invitation for you to reach out to us at the hub with any professional development needs you might have: we are well placed to provide both support and challenge. Our next edition will be released in December so there is still time to contact our Administrator, Martha Lopez ( should you wish us to signpost the high-quality provision you have on offer.

If you have any questions about the Chafford Hundred Teaching School Hub or would like to arrange a call, please feel free to email me directly:

I wish you all a restful half-term.

“Teachers are the foundation of the education system – there are no great schools without great teachers. At the heart of great teaching and great school leadership is a shared, evidence-informed understanding of what works.”

Best regards,
