Rights Respecting Schools Journey
The Rights Respecting Schools Award puts children’s rights at the heart of schools in the UK.
At Harris Academy Chafford Hundred we are working alongside UNICEF in the UK to create a safe and inspiring place to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive. Our journey towards the Rights Respecting Schools Award embeds these values in daily school life and gives children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens.
Using the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) as our guide, we work close with our student leadership team to shape the future direction of the Academy and to help students understand their rights and responsibilities. Our goal is for the students to create at HACH the community that 'they' want to see in the wider world.
We were awarded the Bronze Award (Rights Committed) in November 2021 after our student leadership team completed an Action Plan for the Academy's progress in this area. We are now beginning to map out how this drives the Academy forward in practice as we work towards the Silver Award (Rights Aware).
