Student Leadership
At Harris Academy Chafford Hundred we have a student leadership team which gives a voice to pupils across the academy. There is a three-tier structure to our student representatives.
Learning Guide Representatives
Every student has an opportunity to run a campaign in order to be elected as a Learning Guide Representative. Pupils vote, and two representatives are chosen for each Learning Guide Group (similar to a Tutor Group). These representatives are encouraged to be a positive role model at all times, take part in ‘student voice’ activities and sometimes assist with providing tours of the school.
Year Group Leaders
Each year group will have a Year Group Leader whose role is to be a part of the student leadership team and represent the views of students. They will lead the Learning Guide Representatives and liaise regularly with the Head Boy and Head Girl in order to communicate effectively to students and staff.
Year Group Leaders will feed back decisions to pupils in briefings and explain why some comments have been dealt with and others haven’t, to ensure that the views of pupils have been listened to.
Head Boy and Head Girl
The overall student leadership process will be overseen and run by the Head Boy and Head Girl in Year 13, who will work closely with the Year Group Leads. They will set the agenda for the meetings, communicate with staff the major concerns pupils have as brought up through the Year Group Leads and take a lead role in briefings. There will also be a Deputy Head Boy and Girl.
