Enrichment
In the Sixth Form there will be opportunities to contribute to the wider life of the school. As ambassadors you will be encouraged to take part in a choice of extra-curricular opportunities.
For Year 12, involvement in these activities is compulsory through the Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) scheme. Modelled on the International Baccalaureate's CAS, this programme requires students to complete a minimum of 30 hours Community, Action, Service work around the Academy. This might involve, for example, joining the Sixth Form Reading Group or Debating Society. CAS hours could also be accumulated through tutoring younger students.
Students in Years 12 and 13 are encouraged to attend three university Open Days over the two years and a range of guest speakers are invited in to talk about careers in professions such as law, medicine and education.
Sport
We offer a wide range of opportunities to take part in both competitive and social sports. Teams compete in hockey, rugby, football and other team sports, while badminton offers a more relaxing form of exercise.
The gym is open to Sixth Form students before and after school.
The Arts
The arts play a very important role in the school.
You will have opportunities to contribute to the many arts events and school musicals staged every year. If you prefer to work behind the scenes or in sound and lighting, you can take this on as a responsibility or work within our Performing Arts and Music clubs.
Charity
Harris Academy Chafford Hundred is proud to represent the community and is committed to contributing to local, national and international charities. This will be through Year Group campaigns or assisting staff via charity-themed days.
