Entry Requirements
An average Attainment 8 score of 5.5 as well as a Grade 8 in Maths. Candidates must also be taking A Level Maths.
What is Further Mathematics?
Further Mathematics extends the understanding gained in A level Mathematics. It covers topics such as complex numbers and matrices that are not in the core course. It is advantageous if you are considering studying Mathematics, Science or Engineering at university.
Year 1 Course Content
The course consists of material that covers both Pure and an option which includes further pure or an applied module. One half of the course is focused on core Pure Mathematics the other half focuses on the option which may include statistics mechanics or decision maths.
Year 2 Course Content
The course consists of material that covers both Pure and two options which includes further pure or applied modules. One half of the course is focused on core Pure Mathematics the other half focuses on the options which may include statistics, mechanics or decision maths.
How will you be assessed?
AS Course : 2 Exams in total
1 Pure – 1.5 Hours
1 Option – 1.5 Hours.
A Level Course : 4 Exams in total
2 Pure – 1.5 Hours each,
2 Options – 1.5 Hours each.
